Feasibility of Low Latency, Single-Sample Delay Resampling: A New Kriging Based Method

Wireless sensor systems often fail to provide measurements with uniform time spacing. Measurements can be delayed or even miss completely. Resampling intervals is necessary satisfy the requirements of subsequent signal processing. Common resampling algorithms, based on symmetric finite impulse response (FIR) filters, entail a group delay 10 s samples, which not acceptable regarding typical interval wireless sensors seconds minutes. The purpose this paper verify feasibility single-delay resampling, i.e., algorithm resamples data without waiting for future samples. A new method parametrize Kriging interpolation presented and compared two variants Lagrange in detailed simulations resulting prediction error. provided most accurate group-delay scenario. scenario required almost double OSR achieve same signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). An between 1.8 3.1 was depending SNR distortions terms jitter, missing noise. least noise-sensitive method. Especially signals best accuracy. showed that feasible, but at expense higher limited SNR.
